The organ console is the area from which the organ is played; the organist's work station. It comprises one or usually more manuals, or keyboards; a pedalboard, many stops or in a Cinema organ stop-tabs, pistons, swell pedals and controls for any special effects.

In a Cinema organ, it may also include switches controlling lights inside the console casing, and to control the lift which allows the console to be lowered out of sight when the film is shown.
