A control on an organ console which activates a rank of pipes. In a traditional organ, usually a knob placed adjacent to the manuals and connected mechanically to the rank, which is pulled out to cause a specific rank to play.
In a cinema organ, through innovation by Robert Hope-Jones, a small tongue-shaped tab, one of many arranged on a horseshoe-shaped rail around and above the manuals which achieves the same result via electrical control.
