The Rudolph Wurlitzer Company, usually referred to as simply Wurlitzer, is an American company started in Cincinnati in 1853 by German immigrant (Franz) Rudolph Wurlitzer. Initially a musical instrument importer, it began making instruments and set up a factory in North Tonawanda, New York to make pianos. Acquired the patents of Robert Hope-Jones and collaborated with him to develop the Theatre Organ (Cinema organ in the UK).
